In this blog post you will learn how to make embroidered frame cards.
Required Materials
Tools
- Embroidery frame
- Scissors
- Tailor’s chalk
- Transparent foil in card size
- Ruler
- Glue (fabric or generic) or double-sided adhesive

Start by selecting or creating the design you want to embroider by using Turtle Stitch. Choose a fabric that will complement your design and card. Cotton or linen is ideal because they hold embroidery well and have a smooth surface. Attach a suitable stabilizer (either tear-away, cut-away, or water soluble) to the back of the fabric.
You can use a big piece of fabric and embroider many designs onto it, or you could cut it in pieces only big enough to fit your design and the embroidery frame.
Secure the fabric and stabilizer in a magnetic embroidery frame. Make sure it is tightly stretched but not overstretched to avoid puckering during stitching. Now you’re ready to start embroidering! Once the design is complete, remove the fabric from the frame. You can repeat this process again now if you’d like, maybe try switching up the designs as well!
If you used a big piece of fabric, measure the size of the window of your frame card and cut out a square piece of transparent foil. Mark the center of it with a pen. Place the foil on top of your embroidered design, the marked center placed above the center of the embroidery. Transmit the square border of the foil onto the fabric around your embroidery by using tailor’s chalk.

Cut the embroidered fabric to a size that will fit inside your card’s frame. Leave about 5 millimeters extra around the edges so you can fold it neatly behind the card frame.

Apply fabric glue or double-sided adhesive to the back of the embroidered fabric. Be sure to apply glue all along the edges to keep it secure. Carefully position the embroidered fabric behind the frame window of the card, making sure it is centered and aligned properly. Press it down firmly to ensure good adhesion. You may want to place the card under a light weight or press it gently to ensure a smooth, flat surface while the glue sets.
Congratulations, you’ve finished your embroidered frame cards!
